Finances
While still married, you and your spouse share your incomes, assets, and debts. Therefore, upon a marital dissolution you must fully disclose your finances and understand that all income, assets and debts will be equitably divided between you and your spouse.

Child Custody
In most cases, legal custody of the children is awarded to both parents in a dissolution of marriage. However, one parent often retains primary physical custody, while the other is granted reasonable parenting time. Our Child Custody Lawyers can help you fight for what's important.

Child Support
The parent who retains primary physical custody of the children is usually entitled to monthly support payments from the non-custodial parent. Child support is generally determined by the parties’ incomes, the number of children, and the cost of health insurance and child care, as well as the amount of parenting time that each parent enjoys with the children.

Property Division
Under Minnesota law, marital property and debts are to be “fairly and equitably distributed.” Equitable division of assets may be based on many factors, such as length of marriage and the needs of the parties.

Spousal Maintenance / Alimony
Spousal maintenance, or alimony, is financial support that one spouse provides to the other after marriage dissolution. Spousal maintenance may be granted temporarily or permanently to a spouse who has far less earning capacity than the other. However, several other factors may be considered to determine the need for spousal maintenance. From our home in Ely, Klun Law Firm provides legal services throughout the state of Minnesota.  This includes the Minneapolis and St. Paul metro area, along with northeastern Minnesota: the communities of Virginia, Hibbing, Ely, Grand Rapids, Bemidji, Cloquet, International Falls, and Duluth. Contact our office to speak with an experienced lawyer today.
